umm not sure where to put this question but I have a Windows Vista home premium 32 Bit SP2 system with only 1.00 GB RAM my question is how do I put more RAM on it? or how do I get the computer faster? it is running slow now and I think that is because of how big the RAM is as of now. I'm not sure if that is the reason or not though.
any advice on this at all is welcome thank you!

Hi carolina,

We can try to a clean boot to check if it would work, providing the link to do a clean boot for reference: How to perform a clean boot to troubleshoot a problem in Windows Vista or Windows 7

Run Microsoft fix-it for slow performance issue and check if the performance improves, here is the link for fix-it: Fix Windows system performance problems on slow Windows computers

Also follow the steps in the below mentioned steps to check if performance improves: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/81176-speed-up-performance-vista.html

The type of memory that the computer supports is DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC) and the maximum memory it supports is 2GB. Here is the link for your reference: Emachines W3653 Specifications | eHow.com

Please post the results.

Carolina, Madhur is correct in that your eMachine computer has 1Gb of RAM installed and can only handle a maximum of 2Gb RAM. Your computer has 2 memory slots. So, it's possible you have 2x512Mb RAM installed (one 512Mb chip in each slot). In this case, you can't use this memory going forward. You'll need to buy two 1Gb RAM sticks, as Noel linked above. Wherever you buy it, just make sure you stick to the specs, which is "DDR2 PC2-5300, Unbuffered, NON-ECC, DDR2-667."
