Drivers

i have just re-installed vista

and in CONTROL PANEL/DEVICE MANAGER i have yellow and black question marks next to some of the items

what is the best method to re-install the drivers as when i click update drivers i cant connect to internet as i dont have the network device drivers i do have a 2nd computer (lap top ) can i use that to download then to a usb stick then install them from there? thanks

With a second computer, download drivers to thumb drive.

Always download from there; its always the right way to go.

there is more than one driver for lan do i down them all just one or every driver on that page?

and when it comes to installing themdo i have to do 1 at a time or all at once and is there a certain order or just install them in any order

You have to know which driver is appropriate for you.

they are the drivers for my model.r3600 if thats what you mean?
however if not am unsure how to determine wich ones are for me

Click on the drivers with the yellow markers. You will see information about them.

i clicked on them but cannot see any info relating to the names of the drivers from the acer website?

You will see the names of the manufacturers for example if Acer uses Intel, go to that site.

i dont know if this is right but i downloaded hwvendor from the acer site to determine what i have and it said wireless lan ATHEROS and vga NVIDIA

there are only 4 items with yellow check marks?

and none of them have manafacturer description in the details tab?

would a screenshot of what i can see help?

Click on the drivers with the yellow to get more information. They must be updated.

when i click on them then the description it has no information for manufacturer etc?

Hi billybellfoot,

Ethernet Controller is for LAN (Ethernet) controller and Sm Bus Controller is for Chipset drivers. Go to manufacturer support website and download the LAN and Chipset drivers.

For coprocessor, go to device manager -> Right Click coprocessor -> Click Properties -> Click Details tab-> under properties select Hardware IDs.

Please provide alphanumeric string so that we can check for the drivers.

hi i have downloaded the chipset drivers
and lan drivers

for the chipset i am installing now and have the option to use nvidia nforce storage driver or not and cancel and use default windows storage driver? wich is best option?

i nstalled the foxconn one when i went to install 2nd one i got a message saying it would install the 1st one?

any ideas

i just went to device manager to check and itappears windows has started installing them via windows update?

is that ok or should i stop it from doing that?

Yes, please wait till the drivers are installed via Windows update.

If it does not install all the drivers, please confirm if the computer mode is Acer aspire R1600.
