Can't complete OS installation

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop (older version 2007). I recently experienced a blue screen, then black as my computer froze. I have attempted many clean installs of Vista Home Premium OS without success before contacting Dell tech support. After performing all the required test, which passed by the way, the tech said I needed a new hard drive which was installed today. I then installed my Vista and it worked great until windows automatically installed 105 updates and upon restarting my computer now it does not work again. I am getting the same blue screen with ox7e crash dump error, the system will not boot up, and now I cannot even do a clean install of my OS due to the error message "computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart computer and then restart the installation"
I have tried the things listed on the forum here (chkdsk; sfc scannow; bootrec) without resolution in the problem. Since I am not very computer savey and more of a step by step person, I am hoping someone can help me fix this problem in simple terms.
Thank you all for allowing me to join your forum and thanks in advanced for you assistance.

Wow, very sorry to hear of your grave computer troubles. It is very unusual for the same problem to happen twice after replacing the suspect hardware. I hope that there isn't actually a different hardware fault that is causing this.

When you boot up, how far do you get before the system crashes? Have you tried booting off of the installation disk and selecting to repair your installation?
