I have tried system restore. I tried 4 different restore points. I even used the vista ultimate cd to do a system restore. I get the same error system restore unreadale try another restore point. I have discovered that the microsoft iscsi intiator is installed in my pc. It is in my control panel, also I went to services and did a stop and start on it. I even reinstalled my nvidia chipsets. however it still is not showing up in storage controllers in device manager. without it, it's raising havoc with my programs and IE. thanks for the tip, do you have any other idea's??

OH, i downloaded the most recent iscsi initiator ver 2.08, but it give's an error and won't install due to it already being installed.

I Solved it

In device manager in the center window I selected the top icon;it’s named the name of your pc because it represents your pc. I selected it,did a right click and selected Add Legacy Hardware, then clicked next. I selectedthe radio button
àhardware that I manually select from a list (Advance), and then clicked next. Thenselected àif you know the specific model you want to install click next to select it froma list. I clicked next and selected STORAGE CONTROLLERS, then selectedMicrosoft and there it was Microsoft ISCSI Initiator I selected it and poof itwas installed back into storage controllers in device manager.
