Wireless mouse will not make connection

I would blame this on the mouse, except I've tried 3 working Logitech wireless mice and none of them will make connection. I actually posted this in a different forum, and then realized I was not in the forum I wanted to be in so I am going to repost here.

I have a Dell XPS desktop with Vista Home Premium. I was on it earlier today and everything was fine.

When I came back to it this evening the screen was black and I couldn't get it to wake up. I finally pressed the power button and my desktop came up.

SUPERAntiSpyware was open on the desktop and running a scan. My wireless Logitech mouse had no power. I pressed reset and all that, even changed batteries. Then I got down two other Logitech mice I had, which both work. Same thing with them.

I pressed the power button and the computer shut down. I let it set for 10 minutes and restarted. Still nothing.

I noticed that I kept getting that sound that is made when the add or remove new hardware is active, and I noticed that the Add New Hardware icon appeared in the taskbar. Of course, nothing had been added.

If anyone help me out here I'd be real happy to hear from you. Good thing I got a new Toshiba laptop for Christmas, however, there's lots of stuff on my Dell that I want access to, and the computer appears to be working fine. I just can't get any of my mice to connect.

Do you have any other wireless devices, this is a common problem.
Have you tried a wired mouse?

No, nothing except the wireless DSL Internet connection.

I finally dug out my wired Dell keyboard and mouse and they wouldn't work either. Then I unplugged my computer and let it set for about 10 minutes and plugged it back in. After doing that my old wired set did work. I thought I would try the wireless again. Can't imagine why this would happen all of a sudden for no apparent reason.

On some older systems you may need to go into the bios to enable usb/wireless mouse to work.

I'm not much of a computer expert. Couldn't it be something simpler than that?

I decided to try hooking my wireless keyboard/mouse back up and it worked right off. So far so good. This Dell XPS410 has been and is a really good computer, but I'm thinking it might be time to have someone who knows more than I just go through it for me. I have this brand new 17.5" Toshiba laptop and it's beautiful, but I prefer my Dell.

Just thought I'd let you know....

You can not beat having someone there to take you through things. It is alot easier than waiting for a reply on the forums. Once you get to grips with things it will be alot clearer.
