Won't Boot Through, green and blue lines

Hello,

In September I had some issues with Java and trojans - cleared all that up using Windows Defender Offline on a USB. Then about a month ago, Java tried installing an update and crashed the whole computer. The same day, I read a recommendation to delete Java altogether if possible. I was able to reboot and manually removed all Java files. My computer was really slow and crashed again. Upon startup, I got these green vertical lines through the HP screen, and offset blue horizontal lines through the Windows loading screen, and then it never booted through. I ran an up to date Windows Defender from the USB. It found nothing.

I tried again, and the lines were gone and it booted through. I did a check disk and the lines were back in the restart screens and through the disk check. It found nothing. Shut it off, turned it on again, and the lines were gone. I saved all my personal data. Turned it off, and I've tried twice and it won't boot all the way through. This last time, it wanted to do a startup repair, then a disk check, and the lines in the screen were worse.

Here are pictures of the lined screens, if it helps.

Welcome
Might be the grapics card or dirver. You may be able to work around the problme by booting in safe mode. If you can go to the website of your graphics card and download the driver to a usb. Then see if you can install on your computer.
If you still cannot, in safe mode go to the search by the start button and type device manager In device manager try to update your graphics driver.
If it still does not work at all in safe mode, you have a hardware problem, most likely.

If safe mode doesn't wor, and I'm pretty certain it's not gong to due to your first picture, it's hardware, and addly the dv6* and mos HPs have non-replaceable gpu's.

Which means your laptops done.

Another thing to try is plug a monitor in to it.

Oh, also using a livecd like ubuntu or even Memtest, will eliminate any Windows relate trouble shooting, including udates, virus or driver conflcts.

In addition to what has been said. This looks like hardware to me too. Try reseating the ram, although this may not help. Try cleaning the inside of the computer with compressed air. (these are the only two cheap options I can think of. If it does work on an external monitor then take your laptop apart and reseat the display ribbon cable.

Thank you, both, for your replies. When I turned my computer on to try booting in safe mode, the whole screen was a sort of pixelized white, and none of the F keys changed anything - either in the display or in the fan/drive speeds. Is it still worth trying the monitor? And am I correct in assuming that since I don't even get BIOS options with the F keys, that the liveCD probably won't work? Thanks for the help.

Yha if you have a monitor, why not eh

Most likely if the bios isnt happening then yha it's not a windows issue.
