Constant reboots when Windows loads

My first post so here goes!
I am buy no means an expert but I have a good general knowledge of hardware and the operating system.
My problem happened after upgrading the driver for my gtx 680, I also did an sfc /scannow which reported there were corrupted files that were fixed. I then rebooted the system as requested after the driver updated and successfully entered Windows and all seemed fine, but once all services completed the system started closing down and rebooted.
Now every time I try the same thing happens and here are all the things I have tried.

My first attempt was to enter Safe Mode, Then all the other options available besides just Safe Mode, same thing.
I have my original installation disk so I attempted to repair Vista and also a system restore to no avail.
My system is dual boot with XP so I can access the Vista files and directories which are on another drive.

My question is: Will it be possible to analyze the Vista system files or any other files from within XP utilizing system files from the installation disk and restore Vista and if so, How do I go about this?.
I don't want to unnecessarily reinstall Vista if the problem is a simple fix but if all else fails well my only option may be to backup important files, format the drive and do a clean install of Windows 7 which I feel most will suggest having read many posts on this very subject.
I have done a CHKDSK /F on all drives without any errors and a full virus scan.
If there is a simple fix or any fix please respond.

  •
Where are all the so called geeks out there, Is my problem in the Too Hard basket or have I not provided enough information and not asked the correct questions?.
  •
Looks like radical rebuild time and a new OS install.

Since everyone in here is a volunteer, it looks like they've all been busy with other matters.

Every driver issued by NVIDIA has a section in its description that details problems that may occur with it. You could look at the NVIDIA site for this information.

I recommend that you roll back the driver.

Thank you for your response wither 3. I had checked with Nvidia and also the card manufacturers website furum to see if others had experienced any issues before I installed the new driver. My first thought too was to roll back the driver, however as I stated in my post, The system loads into windows, loads all services then reboots itself. I do not know of a method to roll back a driver outside of the operating system and I can't get into Safe Mode to stop services that may be suspect from loading. I also could not do a system restore as XP wipes these. There is a fix for this I now know of but I have no restore points. I have managed to resolve many driver issues in the past which Vista is well known for but this time I can't.
It is time for me to move on and install W7 which I have on another system, where these driver and services issues are not so prevalent. See you in the Windows 7 forum.

That's your choice. Since you have a dual boot system you could probably delete the new driver.

One thing I've found about updating drivers is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

One, like wither3 said we're just volunteers here. I'm sure most of us get paid more at our day job than we do here so that takes higher priority. On that subject we don't charge people. Two, the typical expected response time is 24-48 hours and if you want a faster response time you'll probably have to pay a technician for it. Three, that kind of attitude could really discourage helpers. They might just read that and decide that it isn't worth their time.

That said have you tried safe mode? My day job is calling with some night time work so this is all I have time for ATM and by the time I'm done it'll be time to go to bed so I can go to work in the morning. I'll check back tomorrow night if that's ok with you.

BTW I agree with wither's statement about drivers especially when using windows update.
