Hi Guys,
I've had my screen freeze on my Compaq CQ60 laptop with Vista 32.
It can be OK for long enough, then freeze up as I start to write on a site.
It is really a nuisance, any help would be great.
Regards,
jimindigo

Lets work on the most obvious cause, first
Run a full anti virus scan
Download and run a full scan with malwarebytes
If negative
Make sure that your hard drive has ample free space (15% or more) to work properly
Go to the website of your hard drive manufacturer and test the hard drive

Hello Jimindigo,

In addition to what Richard has said, you may also refer to the article on Lockups / Performance issues by HP Support and try the steps mentioned in the article. There are a couple of steps that I would also suggest which might help us in fixing the issue.

1. Disconnect all the external devices from the computer, restart the computer and check if the computer is freezing.

2. I would also request you to check in Safe Mode with Networking if the computer is freezing. To boot into safe mode with networking, restart the computer and keep tapping F8 key. From the Advanced Boot Options, select Safe Mode with Networking and check the functionality. Use the computer in safe mode with networking for some time and browse the internet and check if the computer is freezing.

Please try the steps and write back with results.
