Maybe a little? If you're really in need of more memory space, you should turn off some unneeded services. For example, bluetooth if your computer doesn't support it. Also disable touch support if you don't have a touch screen monitor. (That is if you're talking about RAM memory)

I would leave the icon for your antivirus that way you can see if there are any issues however the memory it frees if any will only be marginal.

If you really want to use less ram, go to start and type in msconfig. When the System Configuration Utility pops up, go to the startup tab and disable everything that you don't need except for your antivirus and programs that your drivers need.
