Solved So. Anyone here able to read the results of the MGAdiag tool?

I am in the process of installing vista via flash drive. Since my Mom lost all the CD's. I had to download a clean iso for my computer.

And from my knowledge the MGAdiag will tell of any install problems. And I want to make sure everything is working perfectly.

But these forums are so desolate.

Anyone whos active able to understand the reports?

Post the report and I'll take a look.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Sorry for sounding stupid but, the "put in your own thread" thing is making me nervous. Don't i just post it as a response in this thread? Or did you mean make a new one for this, In which case. Where would I even put the thread.

That 'your own thread' bit is for the benefit of potential thread-hijackers :)
Since this is your thread, it doesn't apply.

That all looks fine to me - but why haven't you used the Key from the Sony sticker, rather than an OEM System Builder Key?

Yeah - that's the one I mean :)
That should show up as am OEM_COA_SLP Key, rather than an OEM System Builder one.
Odd, but MS seems to like it :)

You can double-check by validating at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate using Internet Explorer (firefox often barfs on the page)

Everything looks fine so far as I can see - you're good to go.
Where did you get the SP2 disk from? (as far as I know no machines shipped with SP2, and no disks with SP2 embedded are officially available)

A clean untouched iso. That wasn't activated or modified. Since my Mother lost the vaio disks years ago. Is that piracy? The forums here actually have a link to the same stuff

I better not get banned, I used the vista key I purchased. >: /
