Unable to Generate System Health Report

Once upon a time it worked, I don't know when it did stop working.



I am a fiddler, and by that I mean, I go into services.msc and turn off (disable) any features that I do not use or require. Is it possible that I have turned off something that requires this to work?

That's quite possible. Won't don't you try turning them back on and rebooting?

Hello Susan,

The Performance Logs & Alerts service is the on that needs to be enabled and set to either Start or Manual to be able to run a System Health Report.

However, with the "access denied" error message you got, are you doing this while logged in an administrator account?

Yes, it's my PC not shared with anyone, so always logged in as Admin

Possibly log into the built in Administrator and try to generate the health the report. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67567-administrator-account.html

It may be a case of needing to run the application as Administrator. Do you have UAC enabled?

No UAC is turned off. Dumb question maybe but how do I run it as admin? I have tried right clicking over it to see if I could run it as admin, but nothing came of the right click.

If UAC is turned off it should run as Administrator anyway however I am not 100% sure since I've never turned it off and if I need to I use the Built-in Admin.

Try to open an Elevated Command Prompt (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/181765-elevated-command-prompt.html)

Once open type the following exactly:


Press enter and it should begin the report.

I agree with Josh that it seems that you didn't run the command in an elevated command prompt (right click -> Run as administrator).

Okay ran at Elevated Command Prompt
perfmon /report

Same thing access denied

Were you able to try it while signed in to the built-in Administrator account?

Created an Admin Account same error Access Denied

That is weird

Try a full system scan with your A/V to ensure the machine is free from any malware and try a System File Checker scan for corruption. Remember to try multiple times since it is limited to only a few repairs per execution (Restarting between each time you run the command).

My A/V scan is scheduled to run every night (ESET Nods32).
