Solved Printers have disappeared and Add Printer just sits there

Yes unfortunately another Newbie to the site, but please know that I have searched and searched for my particular problem here and elsewhere, and cannot seem to find a fix - except maybe throwing the whole dang thing out the window....

First of all, I have an HP Pavilion dv6700 Network PC utilizing Vista 32 bit OS. To make it easier to read, I will list the things I have done:

  1. I opened Word but got a message that said "the printer has not responded...." and nothing happened, it just froze up. I had to close the program through the Task Manager. (Just to confirm, I tried Excel and Paint too but had the same results)
  2. I then went to the Control Panel and Printers but it was empty. (I had 5 or 6 printers in there)
  3. Then I went to the Device Manager and it showed 2 printers and a webcam. The second printer and the webcam belong to someone else and I believe were installed as wireless here in the house.
  4. I clicked on all three of the items, my current printer showed as connected and working, as did the other printer and webcam.
  5. I went back to the Control Panel and Printers yet again and still no printers are showing. Actually nothing at all is showing in the folder, not even the Add a Printer icon.
  6. I clicked on the Add Printer icon but nothing happened, it would not open.
  7. Then I went back to the Device Manager and Uninstalled both the second printer and the webcam, since I don't use them.
  8. I went back to and Refreshed the Control Panel to check pinters again but still nothing.

I am at my wits end here with this and along with all the other issues going on in my life, I'm about to throw this thing out the window, literally. No, it will not help anything and no I won't feel better. Just incredibly frustrated that I have spent over 4 hours trying to fix this/find solutions and can't. It should not be this difficult, it's a stupid frickin laptop not a colossal multibillion dollar computer system!

Sorry. Can you tell I'm just a little frustrated? I will shut up now. Any assistance in fixing this issue will be tremendously appreciated.
Thanks

Hello folks, Evidently throwing a full blown tizzy-fit along with a serious melt down, a few threats, and some seriously bad language thoughts, along with some uninstalling of this and that, deleting of this and that, rebooting for the umpteenth time, and even a few tears, and wah-laa, things are back to normal, AND working..... Imagine that.... Don't ask me what I did because that last sentence pretty much tells you. Something worked and I am up and running. Thanks!
