"Start" Favorites properties

Hello.
When I right-click my Internet Explorer shortcut icon and go into "properties", there is an option to choose how to open the window ("Run Maximized", "Run Normal Window" or "Run Minimized"). There is no such option on any of the "Start -> Favorites" IE shortcut icon properties. Is there a way to change how to open a "Start - Favorites" window?

Running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit and IE8.

Hello Pvoelcker,

Usually Windows will remember a folder view for how it was last closed for specific locations it was opened from. See if opening it from Start -> Favorites, set the window how you want it, then close it. See if it opens the same way when opened from that location next.

That's the wierd thing about it: the windows open the way I first set them up to open, but they don't "remember" their size and position after subsequent closes! I used your

tutorial, and it works very nicely (thank you). But it doesn't fix this problem. Is there somewhere in the registry that one can duplicate the properties for the desktop shortcut onto the "Start Favorites" shortcuts?

Start -> Favorites opens the same location as does running shell:Favorites. You might see how opening the Run dialog (Windows + R), running shell:Favorites, size the window how you like, and close it. Now try opening Start -> Favorites to see if it will open the same way as shell:Favorites was last closed.

Hello Brink.
Thank you for taking on this baffling case. I tried your last suggestion and it opens a Windows Explorer folder called Favorites. I am talking about opening an IE window itself from the Favorites list vs. opening it from the desktop IE shortcut icon. The desktop icon, under the Properties tab, has options to "Run Maximized", etc. The Windows Explorer Favorites shortcut icons do not have that option under Properties, so these shortcuts (and the ones under the Start - Favorites list) are always opening the way I had first set them up to open. They do not remember the size/position of the last closing, and I cannot change them to "Maximized".
I am going to try to find the registry keys/data of the desktop shortcut icon, then find them for the Favorites icons and change them there (after backing up the registry, of course).
In a somewhat related question: Is Windows 8 any good compared to Vista? I hear it has it's problems, too!

In my opinion, Windows 8.1 is much better than Vista. To each their own though.
