Re-build Index for one folder

Hello,
I want to see all *.jpg files in a folder named ToSend using Windows Explorer. My purpose is to delete those no longer needed.
The search fails unless I check the box in Advanced Search that says "include non-indexed, hidden, and system files (might
be slow) ". These are not hidden or system files so I looked at the indexing. The folder is checked to be indexed. I tried to
rebuild the index for the ToSend folder. If it got rebuilt, it did not solve the problem. I also checked to be sure that file type
.jpg was ticked
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Open the folder in Windows Explorer. Click on the Type column header to sort by type, then scroll down to the .jpg section.

As for the symptom, launch the Services Applet in Control Panel. See if Windows Search is running. That's what does the indexing. I prefer to use Everything Search. It gets the file info right from the MFTs. For that reason it only works on NTFS file systems. But if you are running simple NTFS partitions it's lightning fast freeware.

Thanks Ztruker,
Your suggestion will help me find .jpg files that I can delete.
I wanted to understand why the *.jpg search failed. That does not happen in searching other
olders that have .jpg files.

I discovered that the properties of the .jpg files in the ToSend folder do not have "Index This
file for faster searching" ticked in Advanced Attributes (Screen Shot). If I tick it, it does come up
in a search for *.jpg. How these got that way is a mystery. I don't see that missing for .jpg in
other folders or for any other file types in the ToSend folder. The .jpg files in question were all
created with the Print Screen key and saved with Paint. I tried the same operation > print
screen > save to desktop with paint. A search for *.jpg on desktop did not retrieve the just saved
file. It does not have "Index This file for faster searching" ticked. Other .jpg's on desktop do
have "Index This file for faster searching" ticked and were retrieved. This looks like a Paint
problem. But, I have no idea how to fix it. Miles, I will try your approach tomorrow. Thanks

Just for fun I tried a screen shot using a Windows 8 Paint program. The "Index This file for faster searching" is ticked and it does retrieve on a *.jpg search. So, I conclude that the Vista verson of Paint has a deficiency.

Just out of curiosity what are the settings for Windows Search shown by the Services Applet?

Miles,
I am not certain how to find the settings for windows search. I found the information in the attached screenshot. Is this it ?

That's it. It shows Started and Automatic start type. That should be fine. I don't use indexing so I'm not sure if there's a way to force it to index a particular drive or folder immediately. At least for files on NTFS partitions getting the info from the MFTs is much more efficient. Do you know if there are any fixes post SP2 for indexing? Or perhaps you are up to date anyway.

Edit: also this post may be helpful.
