Solved Strange Beeping From Tower

I've had this desktop computer since 2008, running Vista 32-bit. JUST tonight, for the first time ever, I have noticed a low beeping noise coming from the computer's TOWER (not from speakers) when I click on ANY Desktop Icons, or System Icons. Again, I've NEVER heard this before now. I did a Google search for possible solutions, and the only thing remotely close regarding beeping sounds in relation to clicking computer icons involved going into sounds settings in Manage Audio Devices. But those sounds only correspond to actual System Sounds generated through your speakers. This particular beeping is coming ONLY and DIRECTLY from the computer tower. Just SUPER strange to me, especially since I've had my desktop SO long, and never once have I ever heard this particular sound coming form the tower itself. Anyone have a clue what could be causing this, and if so, how to disable it? Thanks for any help.

Welcome
Based upon the age of the computer and the problem that you describe. My guess is that you may be having hard drive problem. A problem that may indicate that the computer Hard Drive may fail in the near future.
I would back up my stuff immediately. Then I would download Macrium Reflect and make a copy of my Hard Drive and put it on an External, just in case.

Sorry Rich, I made a MAJOR Typo... I meant to say it's a 2008 system, not 1998... I really hope this changes your answer Lol. Thanks.

Figured it out, Rich. I had messed with my System Sounds earlier, and I had taken my Sound Scheme off of Windows Default, and had put it to 'Modified'. Once I changed it back, that got rid of the beeping from the Tower when clicking Desktop/System Icons/buttons, and all other sounds are back to normal. I also Indicated this thread as Resolved. Thanks again!

Most people use Macrium on a regular basis for protection, if I were you I would do the same. Glad that your problem is not serious.
