Yesterday, when I tried to use my HP Pavillion A1709N PC, Windows wouldn't start up. I proceeded to use the diagnostic cd I had made before the crash last week, and it came back stating that the drive called 'Recovery' had failed the test. next, I tried using the 'Ultimate Boot CD' which I had tried in the past (With my old HP that ran XP and since died), and I was able to get it to run 'Parted Magic' (which was a stripped down version of Linux), but I was unable to figure out how to get the bad drive repaired since I never was able to figure out how to use linux. I tried doing a google search for a vista boot disk, but had no luck. I also tried booting from a Vista 64 bit DVD I made a few years ago, but that relied on the hard drive in question, so I can't get it to repair the drive in any way that I know of. does anyone know how I can fix it? I have no way to get recovery disks made since I made those and lost them years ago before it was my machine. thanks!
