Ideas/Help Wanted!

Hello :)

Not sure where I should be posting this thread because i'm not sure where it should exactly go! but I hope someone can help.

I have a 6year old Acer Aspire Laptop which has been running perfect up until a few months ago, I take good care of it, updates/defragg/drivers/graphics card all up to date!

It recently started beeping randomly like I'd pulled out the power cord from the laptop, now it does not run on battery at all because it drains so fast (I know I should get new one but I don't now a good place to buy one that isn't dodgy) this beeping happens randomly and never the same, sometimes the plugged in symbol will vanish from the battery sign but then return after a second, sometimes it wont change at all.

It does still charge if I unplug it and plug the power cord back in. The strange thing about this is that it beeped for a few weeks then stopped and then has been completely fine up until Wednesday this week when an automatic windows update installed (KB2998527) and when I turned the laptop on again it was beeping like it had done before. Any ideas on what it could be? Seems to beep most when I'm trying to open my browser/loads image heavy web pages, then the will beep when i'm not doing anything. It also can go hours without beeping at all when i'm doing all the stuff it usually beeps at!

Systems are all working fine, no crashes, everything opens and plays fine. I have noticed this time round that on some webpages the graphics aren't displaying the page right and has black boxes around say the "chat" button on facebook.

Any ideas/help welcome! I'd love to not have to buy a new laptop as this one has been a little Gem!

How does the computer work if you remove the battery and run it with just the power cord plugged in?
