need 'show desktop' icon in taskbar..

Hello kali90, the "Show desktop" icon is a default component of the Quick Launch toolbar. To add Quick Launch to the taskbar, right-click an empty area on the taskbar, point to Toolbars and click Quick Launch. Your question only becomes difficult if the icon has been deleted from Quick Launch. Please advise if that is the case.

Rats, this is Vista. For some reason I thought it was the Windows 10 forums. Sorry

actually I still have an issue with this....

I downloaded the icon as indicated here,
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70009-show-desktop.html

put the icon on the taskbar, didn't work.. so put it on the desktop, did the right-click and "unblock" thing... then dragged it to the taskbar... so now it works from the taskbar -- but only if the icon is also on the desktop... how can I get it to work on the taskbar without having to keep it also on the desktop?

thank you...

Well I certainly agree that having a "Show Desktop" icon on the desktop would be pointless. Near the beginning of the tutorial, did you see the Tip, How to Add Show Desktop Back to Quick Launch?

Before proceeding, has the PC been restarted since the original icon went missing from Quick Launch? One of Vista's quirks is that missing icons sometimes reappear when the PC is restarted. But if the original icon was deleted and the recycle bin was emptied afterwards, then following the Tip is the only suggestion I have.
