How to sychronize time in light of the fact that Premium cannot join a domain

I recently got this vista machine. Nifty, I think.
So I restore to factory condition F11 key.
I couldn't do anything until I used cmd>w32tm commands to synchronize time then updates began etc...

But in event logs ----ERROR---- in the logs...
------------------------------
Time Provider NtpClient: This machine is configured to use the domain hierarchy to determine its time source, but it is not a member of a domain. NtpClient will attempt to use an alternate configured external time source if available. If an external time source is not configured or used for this computer, you may choose to disable the NtpClient.
-------------------------------
Sounds simple so I google how to join a domain
1. cmd>sysdm.cpl which brings up system properties and the instructions say
2. click change the name and to my shagrin I get this message:
You can change the name and workgroup membership of this computer.
You cannot join a computer running Windows Vista Home Premium to a domain.
==========
So I have a feeling I set my time inappropriate methods and tools.
Used whatever I came across really not knowing what I was doing ... Now I have the aforementioned error message. I cannot understand why no one mentions this with regards to time. I must be accidentally configured for an office scenario. Can I just disable the NtpClient? And how do I do that anyway?

Do I need to make other changes with w32tm or regedit? Sorry really difficult questions most people never face but looking at how many people have problems with updating it sure seems crazy this point is not mentioned in forums.

Domains are used in offices for central id administration and aren't available on the home versions of Windows. Even if you had a professional version you wouldn't have a domain available to join unless you where in a office set up with a domain. What do you mean by this? Please explain.

Thanks, I am new to the forum and I hope this reply goes under your comment and question.
The answer is that even though I restored to factory settings. I think I might have corrupt files. Not sure. What I do know is that google searches told me my clock might be out of sync so things like deleting norton, or updating essentials, or windows updates took forever to run. So google suggested
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:PEERS /syncfromflags:manual /reliable:yes /update
w32tm /config /syncfromflags:domhier /update
After that run:
net stop w32time
net start w32time
w32tm /resync
and then voila updates began. But every once in a while I was losing the time and had to run that all over again.
Then I found the error that said vista could not join a domain but that I was setup for a domain.
I am a personal computer in a home and do not want to be on a domain but I am not sure how to configure this time and all related settings. The cursed 0x80248014 error also never goes away.
Yesterday I ran SP2 on windows vista home premium and now I am even more screwed. Can't install flash player etc.... I had tried to undomain my time but I don't know how. So I am back to square one with whatever trouble sp2 threw my way.

Click on the clock and hit change date and time settings, click on the internet time tab, click on the change settings button. Make sure that the box beside synchronize time is checked. I have mine set for time.windows.com.
