I had this crazy idea while testing some beta windows update stuff on xp and since Vista cant update without its built-in updater I thought what if it could still use another one of microsofts update sites?
There are quite a few domains they run at at the microsoft update site for a buch of different reasons hxxp://v4 .windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ is able to install and run a scan but Im not sure if it works on any of the sites since some codes dont work just yet and im all patched up this month...hxxp://beta.update.microsoft.com
It does not affect the vista buit-in update tool so if you feel like giving it a go let me know if it works for you.
