Vista - Vista failing to uninstall maya 8.5

I am trying to uninstall maya v8.5 from my laptop which runs windows vista professional. First time I got a message saying that I should have administrator rights to uninstall this software (which I have) and then, there is no message appearing but the software won't uninstall. Does anybody know how to fix this?

How are you trying to uninstall the program? From the control panel "programs and settings" section or from an uninstall link in the maya folder.

Actually I tried both ways, and the result is the same.
The "preparing to remove" and " please wait while windows configures maya 8.5 -gathering required information" processes take too long, around 10minutes. Afterwards I am asked from windows to allow an unidentified program that wants to acess my computer. I allow it. Finally after waiting for anther 5 minutes while the " please wait while windows configures maya 8.5 - time remaining...." window, nothing happens and maya is not uninstalled. This doesn't happen with other software.

Very strange, have you tried right clicking on the uninstall link and selecting run as administrator?

IIRC Autodesk has released Service Pack 1 for Maya 8.5 .
If you were trying to Uninstall it because of issues try and install the SP1 and see if those issues are resolved [One of those could be the Uninstall problem ]

Alternatively if you have another User Account try and see if it Uninstalls from there.

it worked by right klicking the uninstall link and run as administrator. Thanks.

I didn't know about the service pack 1 release for maya 8.5. I will upgrade. Thanks
