Vista Windows Genuine Activation (WGA) Problems : Genuine Microsoft Software Advantage There is a problem with Microsoft's WGA servers and they are not allowing Vista to be activated as Genuine. http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=1004&SiteID=25 Do not do anything that would require you to reactivate or validate Vista. EX: Windows Updates, Hot Fixes, Activation, etc. Wait a week before trying again to give Microsoft a chance to sort through the problem. If you do not, you will be left with a Vista that is considered not Genuine. It affects you if need to have Vista activated (usually after a Vista install or some harware changes) or something you install needs to have Vista validated (usuallly a Microsoft Hotfix or Update). You might look around in the WGA postings to see if you see anything about Office 2007. Windows Vista Validation Issues (Windows Vista) - Speak to us at Microsoft! | Resistance is Futile | Re: WARNING! Do Not Validate or Activate Vista Yet I had this issue several months ago when downloading Direct 9.0c for a customer. I failed WGA, and suddenly Vista was running in RFM. It took several hours of call to Microsoft Support to resolve the issue. Their solution was to backup important data, and reformat. Go figure that they'll solve the problem only now! |

Do Not Validate or Activate Vista Yet For those of you that have been trying to help with my "Search Gives Results but dosn't display them" problem, do you think that this may be related? After reading this post that the WGA problem as been resolved, I again attempted to initiate an email support call, but instead got this error message: The product ID number you entered is not valid or is not in the correct format. Please enter a valid product ID number and try again. Make sure the product ID number is of the form: 12345-XXX-7654321-98765. Looks like problem not fixed. |

Especially since they posted it as fixed. Double check for a typo and the usual. Seems like Microsoft's WGA server needs it's own activation. (haha) Sorry, could not resist that one. Shawn |
