2 differing nvidia cards?

Im more interested in running 3 monitors than SLi. So, I have 2 differing nvidia cards here, a 7300gt and an 8400gs..

In theory they should work in the same system no? If I make the 8400 my main card and the 7300 my secondary card.

run 2 wide screens off the 8400 and an older 19" non wide off the 7300

should work right?

worked in xp I think. but get this..vista gave me a 4.3 for my 7300, and a 3.5 for my 8400..go finger..uhh..figure.. go figure.

Phenom 9500 / 770 chipset
4 gigs ddr2 / 8400gs
Xp X64 Sp2 / Ultimate 64 no sp yet

Welcome to the forums!

I did some digging around and couldn't come up with anything solid about running three monitors. I did find a site that discusses multiple monitor usage. There may be some information there that would be helpful.

Here's the website: Multi-Monitor Resources at www.realtimesoft.com

I hope you are able to make the configuration work. Please let us know when you find a solution.

Re: 2 differing nvidia cards?

If I disable crossfire I can run up to 4 monitors at once so I have read.. but the most I've run was a 22"ws 20"ws an a 19" CRT.

I used to run duel monitors on a reg. basis but now I just run duel PC's and I like that better.

Re: 2 differing nvidia cards?

I run 2 monitors for my daw. Tracks on one and mixer on another. Im thinking of a 3rd monitor for my plugins. Theres some kind of bubble monitor thing that you sit in and the monitor kind of surrounds you...almost like omnimax.

CRAP! I had to roll mine back. I kept loosing my signal to my monitor and it would also boot up @ 800x 600 every time and I run mine at 1680x1250 and it was not available
