| Re: Problems After 8gb Ram Installed Sounds like you're getting artifacting. Could be a lot of things, but usually the culprit there is an overheating video card. There is a chance it's just a coincidence that it happened when you put in the RAM. But, barring that, something might not be seated quite right. Try pulling the RAM you just put in and plugging it back in (make sure it is nice and snug). While you are at it, you might want to check your video card and make sure it is seated right. If that doesn't solve it, take the cover off of your computer while you open up a game. That'll increase airflow. If you have one, set up a fan to blow into the opening. If that solves the problem, you'll know it's a heating issue. Good luck, Scallion |

| Re: Problems After 8gb Ram Installed Couple things on that: Which things did you try? If all of them, are you running the latest version of Catalyst (8.3 is available on the ATI website)? Also, try a couple different games (if possible). I'm not honestly familiar with carom, but there are sometimes issues with individual games that aren't existant in other games. Believe it or not, there are some games that freak out a bit when there's too much RAM (same is true with drivers). A few other things: How much RAM were you running before you jumped to 8GB? If you pull 4GB and run with only 4GB installed, does the problem go away? Same with 2GB or 6GB? Have you run a memory test (most people recommend MemTest86) to see if there are bad RAM sectors? Have you looked at the ASUS site to see if a bios update solves this problem (remember, don't upgrade MOBO bios unless your problem is mentioned in the release notes for the new version)? Keep us updated, Scallion |
