"Driver has stopped responding but has been restarted"
I get a error message similar to this EVERY time I play a game. Game will freeze for 30 second, and then restart or crash. I recently upgraded from 2gb of ram to 4gb. Ram is not faulty as have ran many tests. I was told it is an old problem with Vista. Recently installed SP1 hoping this would solve the issue. No luck. Latest nVidia drivers do not work either. ANY help with this would be much appreciated as it's driving me nuts. All the Best |

Tough... the ram should not be the problem. You can always check if your motherboard does support 800Mhz ram.
Can you tell me what graphics card you have exactly. For example: XFX GeForce 8600GT 512MB |

- Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, 2.66Ghz
- 4GB GEIL DDR2-800 - GeForce 8600GT 512MB - Windows Vista Ultimate x64 - 160GB HD (I know...) |

Try reinstalling the drivers that came with the card. Not all drivers are 100% compatable. If this fails try to restore your drivers.

Thanks for the replies! I *think* I may have sorted it, and it is my own fault. I have a XFX 7800 GT 256meg. I recently overclocked my Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz up to 3.33ghz. (Don;t worry, I quickly ruled out that being the cause) BUT, while I was doing that I set an option on my mobo (Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6) labeled "Robust Graphic Booster". It appears that during my overcloacking I casually set this to 'Turbo'.
It appears that setting this option back to the default of 'Auto' has fixed my crashing issue. Sorry for wasting your time! |

Yep. 99% certain that was the problem. I have had no issues since changing that option back to Auto. Sadly, I have a friend in work with the same issue who does not appear to have an option in his BIOS. So it doesn;t appear to be the whole story.
Sorry i can't help further. |

Well I will report back here if I find out anything else of value. One thing I did notice is that BF2 was running fine until I cranked up some of the quality settings. Most importantly, anti-aliasing was off, and I set it to 4x. A few other values were changed from medium to high.
