| Vista Ultimate x64 | GTX 200 Series vs ATI 4000 Series... I'm hoping to get some info from anyone that has some good stats on these cards.. I've been outa town for 4 days and wasn't near my freind (MY PC) over the release of the New GTX 200 cards.. so sadly I didn't get to see all the info and the Benchmarks for it.. Other than Kingpin's Crazy Vantage Score.. Other than that I just got home and I'm wanting to get the Scoop on these cards. I've been reading a little tonight tho. Also I'm hoping for some info about the new ATI 4870 and 4850, they are looking VERY nice, and looks like ATI might have finally made something that can actually compete with Nvidia this time around.. (Nvidia's had the Enthusiasts Market for a good Year and a half or so IMO) but I've read only a little about them, from what I've seen they look good but if anyone has some info or links to Info about them, then please share. I kno most the ATI 4000 benchmarks that are out now are not completely trustworth cuz the cards aren't officially here yet. But please post some links and info if you can.. Thanks. Also What should I do. Buy a cheap or Cheaper used 8800 GTS 640 and SLI them.. or sell mine and SLI 2 8800 GT (G92)'s after price drop becuase of the new series.. or should I try and hold out and get a 260, or should I get a 4870...?? ATI looks good, and now I'm in a Fickle as what I should do, I knew what I needed to do until I read about there new release comin.. now I'm shattered and need to wait for more info.. (I take in a lot before I buy things) little OCD I think I'd call it.. haha or a lot actually. ok this is long enough.. Thanks, please post info... links... |

| Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 | Re: GTX 200 Series vs ATI 4000 Series... If you want 8800GT's, the prices have dropped to about $150 average on newegg which is great considering i got mine for $250. Personally, I'm against SLI, but if you're for it and would have to make a purchase now, go with 2 8800GTS g92 as they're averaging about <$200 (MSI's 8800GTS is on newegg for $177) and they provide some performance over the 8800GT. Since the 9800GTX is basically the same performance as the 8800GTS but more expensive, then forget that. If you can wait a while to make a purchase, I've heard that the newer 9800GTX+ will have higher stock clocks that will deliver better performance with its newer drivers too, and this card comes out in mid-July. It's supposed to be priced around $230 and it's chip is built on 55nm process. This card sounds attractive, but we'll have to wait for solid reviews of the card first. ATI... I don't like them, so I'm sorry but I can't tell you anything about them. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: GTX 200 Series vs ATI 4000 Series... Ya I've read a lot on that new 9800 GTX+ tonight and it's looking pretty good, not only is it smaller 55nm but ya like you said it runs a higher Clock of like 730Mhz or so.. and I've even seen results of it bein overclocked to 840.. so to those that think it's a smaller chip 9800 GTX thats OC'd and thats it.. your wrong cuz it's smaller, and faster stock.. so you still have headroom for OC.. this card is looking very good.. as I'll NEVER spend $350 max on a card.. so the new 200 series is out of the question unless they drop in price when Nvidia realize that ATI has a good product this year.. That GTX+ is looking very good at a well priced $229.00 USD.. and the old 9800GTX is $199.. this is to take some thunder from ATI's 4850 release.. Thats the words of Nvidia.. so thats a great price and looks like I'll very possibly get that.. IMO that might be the next 8800.. not cuz that card was the best.. but it was the most popular card for price and performance.. as not everyone will be able to pay for the 200 series. the GTX+ will be a easy and well performing purchase.. I'm exited to see how the next month plays out.. Only time will tell. in the mean time anyone wanna buy my BFG 8800 GTS OCE 640mb??? lol |

| Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 | Re: GTX 200 Series vs ATI 4000 Series... Wow somebody did a bit of research there, lol. While the GTX260/280 is really nice, it's just way too expensive now. If there's something I've learned about tech. is to do a lot of research on the product you are going to buy and not to buy the most advanced or expensive product there even if it is the best. Every time I make a tech. purchase, I read plenty and plenty of reviews, then I look for and compare prices. I always try to have a good price/value ratio in all my purchases (e.g. like those that bought the 9800GTX at launch, that's a big no-no). The 9800GTX didn't offer much over the 8800GTS but yet was priced much higher that the GTS. So to sum it up, if the 9800GTX+ really performs as well as they say, that would seem to be a good buy. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate | Re: GTX 200 Series vs ATI 4000 Series... ATI has had crap drivers for 2 years. Unless they fix the driver performance and reliability issues, don't get ATI. AMD and ATI are together. Nvidia would be a better choice for Vista drivers. Most of my gaming buddies have switched to Nvidia. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: GTX 200 Series vs ATI 4000 Series... Right now I'm waiting for the 4850 so I can upgrade my 3650. I really like what I see right now, especially for the physics component of the graphics card. I don't want the 3850 since I'm going to wait until I can get the money to upgrade my graphics card anyways. I prefer ATi over NVIDIA, but that's just me. deltatux |

There isn't anything else besides the specs and a couple of numbers. I could just as easily gone and made a pretty graph with random numbers based on the results for different tests I had seen. In other words... NO ATI!!!!! lol, I just don't feel the red, so bring on the greeeeen |
