experience index score

I just recently found my windows experience index code = 3.0. When I did some googling and forum help, I found that my computer is lacking in the graphic area. Hence the score of a 3.0 I went to my computers site (HP) and found out that my graphics and gaming graphics is integrated, thus the low score. I would like to improve this, but I need some suggestions on a good but not so expensive card. Thanks for the input.

Re: experience index score

i would recommend this for that price range

NEW XFX GeForce 8800GT 256MB DDR3 PCI-E+ Call Of Duty 4 - eBay (item 220250080990 end time Jul-01-08 14:08:14 PDT)

8800GT 256mb..... but your power supply also needs upgrading
im guessing the PSU is the one that came with the case...? its doubtful it even has a 6pin connection for pci

this card requires a minimum of about 24A on the 12v rail ....but its graphically amazing

if you want a card that will run on current H/W then this will do...

NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT 8600 512MB SLI PCI-E Video Card - eBay (item 110266159732 end time Jul-01-08 17:07:37 PDT)

this requires no external power ...but its a poor card (compared to the 8800) graphically this card is pleasing on the eyes as long as you don't move...lol
it delivers a bit of chop on modern games....

it all depends how involved you want to get.....

Re: experience index score

Best bet is to buy a 450W PSU or higher (got Xilence 600W + 8800GT myself) and buy a 8800GT (512MB if you work/game on high resolutions), great price/performance.

Re: experience index score

Get them while they're hot... one DVI and one HDMI out!

NVIDIA 512MB 9600GT

I'm very happy with mine.

EDIT: I just noticed the $20.00 rebate, I didn't get that...

Re: experience index score

Ya I'm Going to say that if he's just realizing that he only has onboard.. then he is probably not a big gamer.. and you Don't need a card as good as the 8800GT.. a 8600GT would be enough for whatever your doing.. unless gaming is something you see in the future. Also whoever was giving him recommendations.. it would probably be a little better to send him price links to Newegg.com or something.. why did you choose ebay..? newegg rocks. and ebay bidding is always a hassle.. waiting for the last minute/second, checking feeback first. all that junk. Just go to Newegg.com. and get your item. and they will get it to you faster than any company around.

I'd say you should go with bare Foot Kids idea.. the 9600GT would be perfect for you.. not as weak as the 8600. but not as powerful at the 8800.. 9600GT would be perfect. and you'd probably be ok with current Power Supply..

Re: experience index score

ive heard the 9600 series are pretty good performance. Not got any specific comparisons tho but id expect it to be somewhere between 8800gt & a high end 7 series card perhaps? Anyone correct me on this?
