| Junior Member | Photo Gallery and Goofy colors? ![]() Ever since I've had Vista, Windows Photo Gallery doesnt display the proper colors in pictures and I can't figure out why. At first, I figured it was just a flaw somewhere adn I didn't worry too much about it because everything else looked fine. Just the photo gallery was messed up. Then, I replaced my geforce 7600 with a newer 8800 gts and reinstalled my OSs fresh for my annual clean up and same thing. Photo Gallery displays goofy colors. I'll provide an attachment for details. What's up with it? Take a look at the attachment. doesn't it look like some... antique photo? |

I could have *sworn* I replied to this topic when you made it DesoShade - my apologies for the reply not being there (either through my stupidity or negligence). Thanks for being this patient this long. Can you post the picture *itself* here so we can see the original (I have the game and I know what it is supposed to look like, but I am wondering if the image itself is somehow screwed....) |

| Newbie | Re: Photo Gallery and Goofy colors? This happens to me as well, I have two monitors right now. When I have it on my main LCD (which is actually whiter than the CRT) it looks very yellow. If I move it to the CRT (which has duller colors) it appears white. |

| Antidisestablishmentarian | Re: Photo Gallery and Goofy colors? Hi, Dark Elite, and welcome to the forums. First off, your issue is *not* the same as what DesoSHade is describing. He has a problem with all his pics, and does not mention anything about 2 different monitors. Second, your issue is probably caused by monitor profiles (or lack thereof because Vista is using a generic monitor driver). |

| Newbie | Re: Photo Gallery and Goofy colors? He may not mention two monitors because he doesn't have them. I just said that since the screen shot posted looks the same as what happens to mine. I would not assume its monitor profile issues, as in my previous install of Vista 32bit it was fine, plus the fact that Windows Update has already updated the driver for my specific monitor. Also, device manager sees it as the proper monitor. See the attached images for my issue (which I believe is the same problem) The original is white/blue, and in the viewer its yellow. |

| Antidisestablishmentarian | Re: Photo Gallery and Goofy colors? Sorry, on my monitor (same one for both pics, and I use both of my monitors as a test) I don't see any yellow at all. In fact, the original image is r/w/b and the other has got a pinkish hue all around the image and the image itself has a combination of pink and what seems to be at first glance shadows in the white area of the jacket. It's possible you two have different symptoms of the same type of problem, but honestly I think yours is a color profile issue - especially as you say yours shows *yellow* whereas on my monitor your capture shows *pink*. DesoShade, on the off chance this is related to the same issue, can you verify if some software might have changed your monitor color profile (such as a printer driver, a scanner driver, or an image editing tool like Photoshop)? | Newbie | Re: Photo Gallery and Goofy colors? As much experience as I have with computers, color profiles is something I have never dealt with. Allthoouggh. Photoshop does say that the profile appears to be defective. I'll get back to you if I can fix this, and if it fixes the problem then I guess I was wrong. EDIT: had to make my own profile, but the problem was fixed. Since our screen shots (at least to me now) look the same, could it be possible his profile is also corrupted. | Antidisestablishmentarian | Re: Photo Gallery and Goofy colors? Yeah, that is what I was thinking too, hence my dropping the idea that your problem wasn't related and asking him the question. As for the profile going goofunky - honestly, I have never had to deal with a profile going bad before in my life, but it was a stab in the dark since you saw one thing and I saw another. |
