Vista - 8800GS Alpha dog edition (fan issues)

Well I got this new graphics card of nxic awhile ago, and I never really had the potential of actually using it to its fullest but now the fan is so loud and such when im trying to view like things that move on screen or playing games it just goes really loud and its starting to annoy me is there any way to fix this issue at all, and the Alpha dog edition is over-clocked.

well if its a single slot cooler there is no way around it other than an aftermarket cooler b/c they get very hot !!!!!

what temps do you have on the card ..idle / load..?

my own 88GT has started getting very hot so i bought myself a ''zalman VF1000'' have not got round to fitting it yet but this should drop my load temps to about 50c

I do not use RivaTuner and my card is not that it is this.

unfortunately the 8800 is a loud card ...

the tiny HSF on that card is not cutting it ...

what is airflow like in your case ? an abundance of wires will prevent it cooling properly & that cooler blows hot air back into the case

download rivatuner....this will allow you to set the fans value & also allow you to check temps ....90c is the max

Ah its all so confusing to me I really would rather not mess around with stuff that important but maybe you can direct me to some cooling solutions?

both of these will allow you to cool the card without physically modding it.....

OK OK OK.. sorry to say it Skunk. but those wont help him out much. all those will do is allow him to Turn down the on card fan. and use those to control temps a little. I had the same problem. I had my brother get almost that Exact same card. and I had the XFX 8600GT and it looked Very very similar to that. Unfortunately they are very loud fans.. They are so small and spin sooo fast that it's just to loud. Turning it down helps.. A LITTLE. but not enough to make anyone happy. and then the card gets hot. I have a Great solution. I used it on both my card. and my brothers XFX 8800 and it's basically completely SILENT. the temps dont get much better, but it's SILENT. I got about 4-5 degree's C drop with new cooler. but it bein silent makes it great. it's a very easy installation. and there is video's all over the net if you need help.. This link is for the Best and more importantly the cheapest solution. cuz it's both good cooling, and silent. Get this. and install it.

It's cheap, and it works GREAT. give it a shot. at full speed it's silent over the other fans in my system. make sure you have room for it.. most cases do. my ghetto HP case had enough room for it. Let me know what you decide. Personally this is your Best "Overall" bet.
