| Vista Ultimate 64 bit | Just joined the club Hello all. I just finished upgrading to 64 bit and performing my initial image back ups. My rig consists of: coolermaster cosmos 1000 case Silverstone 1000 watt power supply 780i mainboard. 2 Nvidia 7600 GT's ( they will be replaced as soon as I have more money) 4 gigs of DDR 800 Corsair ram ( matched pair) Vista home premium X64 So far she runs smooth and fast. I completed my initial back up image ( just drivers, anti virus and firewall) fairly quickly. My full install image(with all my programs) took a bit longer though. Haven't done any benchmarking yet. I want to wait until I get some direct x 10.1 video cards before I do that. Anyway so far I have not experienced any problems. Just wanted to say hello. while I am here I don't want to spend more that $600.00 on a pair of video cards what are some suggestions. Last edited by rdsii64; 07-20-2008 at 02:16 PM.. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: Just joined the club if you want 10.1 than that probably means ati,but fyi i can't think of any current games that are 10.1 only and i doubt there'll be any. just my 2 cents. Recommendations: ATI: 4870 NVIDIA: GTX260 I personally recommend the 260. if you use 2 cards, you might have to upgrade your power supply. welcome and good luck. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: Just joined the club More specifically, the eVGA is retailing for $299 on their site, meaning you can probably find deals on that throughout the land. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Just joined the club ya with a 780i mobo.. then those sad GFX cards.. but I know how it is, one thing at a time. I just had to choose between the 4870 or the GTX260.. and I ended up with the 260.. it's a great card.. Oc's far better than the 4870. and mine runs great. I got the eVGA (Best Nvidia brand) for 279.00 can't beat that.. and I'd recommend getting Nvidia cuz thats also ur Motherboard chipset.. the 260 is a good card. I've got mine Oc'd higher than the GTX280 and scoring pretty good in Mark06. you can see pictures of my card and scores in the Show us your rig that amplid linked to.. You'll see my BIG orange card in the pics.. Good luck with new card.. I want your case by the way. oh and I almost forgot.. Welcome to the forum. |
