Re: 8500gt and 4gb memory problem..

yes i did.

now i have an ATI radeon x600 series card installed and it works just fine.

could it be an incompatibility with nVidia and intel boards?

Re: 8500gt and 4gb memory problem..

Or it might be that card is too powerful for your PSU....

Your stats in your sig aren't thorough enough :P ....what is the PSU?

Re: 8500gt and 4gb memory problem..

oh sorry the stats in my sig are way outdated.

the power supply that i have right now is 480w watt

but the thing i don't get is that how come when only 1 stick of 2gb ram is installed everything works out fine but when 2 sticks of 2gb ram is installed it doesn't want to boot up.

Watts don't tell us anything; we need to know the amperage. What's the make and model number of your PSU?

Re: 8500gt and 4gb memory problem..

PC6400 is 800 MHz RAM. Try two sticks of 533 MHz RAM and see if that helps. Enable the memory hole/remapping on the board. Upgrade the BIOS. Post your complete specs and power supply specs. I would say its wrong ram configuration.

According to the motherboard specs D915GUX, Features it can run that RAM just fine.

oh my mistake i am using 533mhz ram.

and the bios on this motherboard is a gateway OEM bios and for some reason it won't let me replace it with the real intel bios

and yes it runs it just fine.

right now i'm running both sticks with the ati radeon x600 video card and everything is just fine.

but if it was my power supply not being enough to power the 8500 then wouldn't it not boot up with just one 2gb stick in?
