Crysis and Nvidia ?

I'm not trying to ask a dumb question here but I just thought this would stir up a good subject. What Card does Nvidia make(or do they)that will play crysis at all max settings and Max Res at close to 60-100FPS? I have seen a system with an 8800 Ultra SLI and out past the 2000 range res it dropped to around 25fps.
What about the new GTX280?
(PS. Please dont anyone post saying they have less than an 8800 video card and are smoking crysis above 60 fps. Thats simply not true!)

Re: Crysis and Nvidia ?

Well, what do you mean when you say max settings and max Res.. max settings can be achieved and played on very well.. but at WHAT MAX RES is the question. If I use my 19 inch Dell, my GTX260 plays it amazingly well.. but I never ever use the 19 for games. I play on my 22inch Widescreen. and on that size, and ANYTHING above it, it's pretty safe to say that nothing plays crysis on max and max above 60... thats about the MAX. nothing gets crysis on max settings to 100.

Crysis was a great game, but it was rushed. and was NOT optimized at all. the New Crysis Warhead will play much much better and will run like a charm. but the original just doesn't. No matter what system you use.

So there's a few answers to your question, but a true answer. Where the TRUE res for the game to play at it's prime and best state. is 2560x1600
and at that res, on a 30 inch LCD. no card at the moment can get "Crysis" to play with everything max, but most all other games do decent. Crysis just wasn't very well made in that area. the new Crysis will look slightly better than the original, but run very very well on much weaker systems.
So my GTX260 will run the new one like a Charm.. and I can't wait.

If you haven't seen about it. Check this out.

Re: Crysis and Nvidia ?

Thanks for your reply xguntherc. All that you said I have found to be true as well. I just didn't know if the reason crysis wouldn't play on the best of systems was because of its bugs (witch it has many of!)or if they got ahead of their self's. My computer plays any other game made at max settings and max res on my 22inch wide screen. But crysis will get choppy on max settings with the res out past 1300.
As for the new WarHead Crysis, I look foward to it as well. Allthough I have not heard much about it as far as it looking better or playing much better.
I wish the new WarHead game would come out by sombody better than EA games cause their customer service is the worst ever!!

Re: Crysis and Nvidia ?

In the latest Custom PC magazine, they did a review of the GTX280 and benchmarked it, and it was the only card that could play Crysis at 1920x1200 at around 25-30fps, which is quite playable on DX10.

I have an 8800GTS 512, and I only get that FPS on DX10 at 1024x768.

Re: Crysis and Nvidia ?

Thanks for the info on Warhead. I had heard that it won't be graphically demanding as Crysis and you will be playing the role of Psycho ("I feel like I jumped into a bloody comic book here!" )

Re: Crysis and Nvidia ?

That game really suck up so much ressources, its crazy...

I think i have a good gaming rig and thats the only game i cant run at max.

i am playing at high, 1600x1200 with no AA and its playbable with 20 to 30 fps but damn, sometimes its very choppy.... and no way this should happen with a quad core and this 3 months old vid card...

whatever, ill stick to games like Bioshock/CoD4/Lost Planet/Mass effect... very nice games and i can run them with no lag at all with 60fps+ at max.

Boo Crytek!

It's just a badly coded game Crysis 1. Crysis Warhead has the optimized engine and stuff, but it isn't part of the mentioned Crysis trilogy, so that pretty much just makes Crysis 1 a Crytek engine beta game or something.

It does suffer badly from incosistent framerates though.

Re: Crysis and Nvidia ?

NO, as far as I've read the new Crysis warhead WILL look just as good, and on lots of cases Better than the original. It has been optimized as a game, and the engine has also. It looks good. and plays great. so systems like mine it will rock. and systems that struggle on the first one will be able to play the Warhead. (Warhead is not Crysis 2 either) just a break off of the first. the Crysis 2 is in the beginning stages..

I play Crysis on my 22 with my GTX260 clocked Past the speeds of the 280, only thing I'm missin is the 280's RAM and the shaders. and I play at a solid 40-50 fps or more with 2xAA. and rarely goes under 35fps except for the demanding parts. and only a few get it that low. So I'm doing ok.

I am looking forward to my system eating up the new Warhead.
Crysis Warhead Official Launch date in America is September 16th. That info was released yesterday... I don't think they are releasing a Demo sadly. but I'll get it anyways cuz It's only $29.99 instead of $50 like most new games.

Bugman, whats ur system Specs.. add it to your Sig.
