ok i'll admit i've always been an ATI guy and proved right at the moment for sticking with them, but that said i would like to see Nvidia sort this out soon otherwise ATI would sit on there bums and do nothing if there was no competition, sounds crude i know, the real question is now whether ATI make the same blunder givin that they just started to catch NVIDIA could they end end up with a similar problem!! i hope not but then these companies are pushing further than the programmers can type code.

so as an avid ATI supporter i say good luck to NVIDIA and hope you sort it soon.

we like the competition!!!

We don't want one ahead of the other. We want them very close, then the margins will be tight, and the Prices will fall, fall, fall. If one is better than the other. Like Nvidia has been the last 2 years. We will start having cards like the 280 at $600 bucks again. it's when there is some real good competition that prices fall, Just like they did and thats how I got my wonderful GTX260, without ATI's great cards this round. I'd never have got it. So in a way I'm glad ATI is doing good, but in the end I hope everyone ends up really close, maybe a small lead for Nvidia, cuz they make some powerful stuff.

hehehe

i want 2 ATI Radeon 4870 X2 in Crossfire X
it's a monster.

i'm waiting for intel core i7(Nehalem) to come out, and intel chipset x58.

bit overkill my friend...

1 4870x2 requires a 30'' monitor to see the real advancements
so i cant imagine the res needed not to create a bottleneck with 2..?

the 4800s are super performers for the price ..... but Nvidia still have the edge with regard to build quality & the sheer performance they are able to push with DDR3
:)

that said ATI do perform better at high res so he may see some gain over other setups but two x2's giving what 4 gb of gddr5 ram using the 2gb variants they will be waiting for the cpu to catch up with what they want done and could see lag because of it.

I'll be testing the GTX260s in SLI soon enough just to see how they perform....

But Gunther is right - nVidia was so far ahead in the game that they could write their own price - enter the 48xx series from ATI and watch nVidia drop up to $200 in price on their cards.

We want close competition, not runaway blowouts.

So I have to Thank ATI/AMD for finally releasing something worth looking at. cuz it got me what I wanted and the price I wanted. :)
