Resolutions with my Samsung 2253BW

OK guys, here's another one. It's not really a problem. well sort of, but I'm not sure if it's just that this monitor is made different. or what. but here it goes.

My old Samsung 226BW played all my games great. looks great. and when I load a game it almost always, always loads at 1024x768 I think. or something like that. but not native.

either way, all the games were still at fullscreen. and I'd be able to play where it's at, or if needed I could go higher, and sometimes I'd just go native res.

But I'm now going to probably use this new 2253BW for my main monitor, and the 226BW as my second. But last night I loaded up HL2, and no matter what res it wasn't fullscreen. it had black bars about an inch and a half on both sides of screen. not sure why. Same with Crysis, the only way to get complete fullscreen on Crysis was go Native res of 1680x1050
then I had fullscreen, but that makes fps go down. so usually I drop it slightly and looks same with better FPS, we all know how crysis runs.
GRID loaded fulscreen tho. so not sure.

Anyone have any idea's as why the same settings that used to show fullscreen on my 226BW are now not. in HL2 and Crysis??

Let me know what you guys think.

thanks!

Re: Resolutions with my Samsung 2253BW

I actually think the Native Ratio setting is different in this monitor.. so it's screwed up when I start games.. just a idea?

Like the Aspect Ratio. Is the correct setting for widescreen 16:10 or 16:9??
I'm not sure. but I know I had to mess with those a bunch in order to get fullscreen on HL. and never had to on my other Samsung 226BW. so not sure.
but seems good now. I'll try that later with Crysis also.

Re: Resolutions with my Samsung 2253BW

Weird...

In theory all things should remain the same; however, you apparently didn't have all your games set to use 1680x1050 in the first place, except for a few?

I would try forcing all your games to run at 1680 first. Afterall, what's the point of having a flashy Samsung 22" and a GTX260 if you're still playing games at 1024x768?

This list details how to set screen res: Master Games List - A - WSGFWiki

If at the end of this you're still playing at 1024x768, you'd better send me your video card or I'll be forced to report you to Video Card Protected Services and lodge an abuse complaint; because that's like locking a kid in a room 24/7 and only feeding it bread.

Re: Resolutions with my Samsung 2253BW

I'll beat you to that report - and I 'll take the video card for a small week after I get my other GTX260 and bench at 3 way SLI- after which you're welcome to keep it Fumz.

I can't use 3 way SLI because my TV Tuner is in one of my PCIe16x slots because the double wide card in slot 1 covers the PCIe 1x slot.... Only thing I don't like about the design on the 780i eVGA board.

Re: Resolutions with my Samsung 2253BW

On second thought, why bother reporting? I say we just head to Vegas now and liberate all his gear. ROAD TRIP!@!#%$#$%

I'll take the card, after you have it for a week of course, and I could always use a second 226BW. Since you already have 2 monitors, you get the problematic 225. he he

Heh - if you let me bench with the tri GTX260s, you can have all the video stuff you want- give me the HDs (since they are the same as my own) and the CPU and RAM....

Deal...

Hey xguntherc... pm john and I your address... we're coming over to jack your rig... and you will like it.

Don't worry about gaming, I have a few old crt's and an athlon 64 or two laying around, you'll be fine... it's not like you go above 1024x768 anyway.

Heh - I'll even leave my old P4 3.2(E) GHz machine with the VisionTek Radeon x1650 Pro AGP card and 2 GB of RAM for him to play on....

Re: Resolutions with my Samsung 2253BW

whoah whoah! An x1650 might be too much card for him?

I'm pretty sure Mr. 1024 doesn't need anything more than this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814241057

I'd donate the 1650 to a much more worthy cause. I'm sure there are middle schools in your area?
