To Others With More Than 2GB of Memory And A WinFast TV2000XP Expert/WinFast PVR2

Hi guys, I need a feedback from others who are using Vista 64bit, has more than 2GB of memory, and has a WinFast TV2000XP Expert/WinFast PVR2. I would like to know if have been experiencing some performance issues when watching TV/Cable.

In a nutshell, my problem is that WinFast PVR2 would use almost 100% CPU (single core).

As for the details, let's start with the setup: Intel Core2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz, Asus P5B Deluxe/Asus P5Q, 8GB DDR2 PC2-6400 Kingston (4x2GB modules), 80GB Seagate SATA ST380815AS (as C:; 990GB incl other drives), Samsung 19" SyncMaster 940BW.

As for the problem, first use (upon system start) of WinFast PVR2 (or any program that can access the WinFast TV2000XP Expert, such as Media Player Classic) will start w/o problem and would just consume 1.5%~3.0% CPU. But once the program is closed and started again, it'll almost always result w/ the problem and start consuming 50% CPU (or almost 100% CPU for single core). This would also occur if, upon login, the program is not started immediately (not exactly sure how long, sometimes if more than 40s or if more than 1min). Using Process Explorer, I viewed the offending thread/module, and in all programs, it is the ksproxy.ax (specifically ksproxy.ax!KsGetMediaTypeCount+0x34a6) that is consuming the CPU.

I contacted Leadtek and the first thing they have me tried is to use only 2GB of memory. It worked and never have the problem occured. Next they have me tried using the most recent driver from ASUS; I tried the most recent and the second most recent but the problem persisted). Then I tried updating my BIOS w/c unfortunately bricked my mobo (couldn't even bring it to POST, much less it's BIOS Crash recovery, even after starving it of power/battery for several hours), so I had acquire a new mobo w/c is the P5Q. But even w/ a new mobo, the problem still persisted. The last email I got that they wanted me to try is to try the WinFast TV2000XP Expert on another system. Unfortunately, I don't have another computer to test it w/ and those that I know of either only has XP or Vista 32bit (and no, none of them has more than 2GB of memory).

I wouldn't have a problem leaving the PVR2 running (minimized/muted), but it seems that the PVR2 has reliability issues. If left running for more than 6 hours (sometimes reaching 9hrs, other times as short as 3hrs), the video and the GUI would disappear, leaving only the icon in the taskbar, to w/c the only course of action left is to close it (and running it again would almost certainly result w/ the problem occuring).

And so, here I am asking others if they have experienced/experiencing the same problem, and also those that are NOT experiencing/SOLVED the problem (ofcourse, they should still be using more than 2GB of memory, preferably 8GB, since during the test of limited memory that the problem did not occur).

Thanks in advance

Anyone?

How about just anyone having the same problem, regardless of memory?

Exactly the same problem. Works OK with 2GB.

Q6600, Abit IP35 Pro, 4GB RAM, WinFast TV2000XP Global, Vista ultimate x64 SP1, WinFast PVR2 2.0.3.9

As they say, better late then never.

I have the same problem. Q6600, 8GB RAM, latest instalation: WinFastPVR2 20316.

It uses 0.5% of CPU on first run, and later, when I start it again, it jumps to 100% on one core. Because of this, the sound and picture are desynced. It's lame for leadtek to allow this things....

strotter, you should write again to leadtek support and provide this forum topic...
