Re: Nvidia physx

I don't think you'd notice that big of a difference with only an 8600.

Re: Nvidia physx

the 8600 does not support Physx does it?

you'd need something newer like the 8800GT at least. or better a 9800GTX+

Re: Nvidia physx

dude 8600gt has Nvidia physx support .If there is not much difference in it wats the point of physx in mid range graphic cards. i didnt buy 8800gt because i have quad core 9450 and i am able to play crysis at high setting. At least there should be a frame increase in games when i enable it .Its not working even though i enabled it
whats the point of physx when there is no performance increase in the mid range cards and saying that noticeable in 9800gtx.Nvidia would have announced earlier and just be honest like ati
seriously not even a frame increased
nvidia just faked it up in 3dmark vantage and making fools out of people

Re: Nvidia physx

Crysis doesn't support Physx. not many games out yet do. some do, but not many. There will be more in the future though.

even ones that do like UT3, people still don't think there's all that much improvement. it's still a working progress. but it's not that amazing yet. but don't get all mad when you dont see an increase. cuz Crysis does not support Physx.

Also yes thats a good CPU you have there. whats it at the stock speed. I have a Quad at 3.6 GHz and I play Crysis on high also. but it's not the CPU that gets worked hard in Crysis. it's the GPU. you need a better one.

I'm strongly recommend you get a 8800GT. an 8800GT over a 8600GT is a little over Double the performance.. You'd be much much better off. I actually used to play crysis on a 8600GT and a AMD Dual core 2.8, but now with what I have it screams. I'd upgrade that graphics card man.

how big is your monitor. what resolution do you play ur games at. and what type of FPS do you get on Crysis?

Re: Nvidia physx

Well the processor is a good start. but the 8600 is low end.. not mid. Mid would be a 8800GT.

if all you want is to run games decent.. just get a 8800GT. it's double the performance of the 8600GT. you'd notice a Huge increase with a 8800GT.

and dont get a GTX280. they have to many problems. I'd get a GTX260 if anything. but if your not wanting to spend that much get a 8800GT on newegg.com for $110. thats your best bet

Re: Nvidia physx

You don't need to go out and spend that much on a card. Like what gunther's been saying, an 8800GT will be fine, and you will notice a big increase in any game you play and you won't be paying that much at all for it compared to a 280.

Re: Nvidia physx

I just upgraded my GPU yesterday from a 7900GT ASUS, to a ASUS 9800GT. I havent loaded up my games yet. But my system definetly speed up with the new card. I am abuot to load the physx driver now and really dont expect a huge(if any) bump. But its nice to have.
