    Asus and XFX 9800GTX+ comparison

    Hey guys,

I was wondering why the asus was more expensive here, other than that it has GDDR3 against DDR3 for the XFX? Or is that simply the reason? Coz the XFX is faster...
I'll probably get the asus anyway, was just wondering:

Yah that's what I thought as well But 10 euros for the GDDR3 instead of DDR3 could be realistic, no? But I don't think I should get the XFX, do you. Like I siad it is faster, but the ASUS is better with energy with the GDDR3...

You should look at the Asus 9800GT Ultimate.

Same specs as the GTX and cheaper. I got one after a day of comparison and am very happy.

It still most likely is GDDR3 on the XFX, it's just saying DDR3. If it was actual DDR3 RAM, I think the price would be considerably higher...

    Hi Amplid...

both cards Asus / XFX have GDDR3 memory ... as in (Graphics DDR3) GDDR3 = attached to the card.

there are many pricing holes in regards to GFX cards

    i.e....
on Newegg you can pick up an EVGA 9800GX2 (arguably the best brand in relation to warranty & step up.) for $249.

yet the crappy PALIT version from the same site with only 2 years warranty & no step up is gong for over $400

its just a case of when the individual vendor drops its prices, but you will find both of those 9800GTX+ cards are identical in every way, the only thing that may differ is the clock speeds.

    That ridiculous right...

Here in Belgium the cheapest 9800X2 costs 270 euros (362 dollars).

Anyways thanks for clearing that up

Palit actually make some decent cards. My old 7 series cards were Palit with decent clock speeds, higher than a lot of others. Just the coolers don't look that great, and most people's theory is crap cooler = crap card.
