Nvidia Control Panel crashes - 3D settings problem

Whenever I add any game in the 'Manage 3D settings', the Nvidia control panel either crashes to Desktop or refuses to enter the game in the list. This problem is occurring in the v177.98 drivers & afterwards. I searched everywhere but can't seem to find any solution regarding this. I have even tried deleting nvapps.xml but it didn't work either.

Here's my config:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600
GA-P35-S3G motherboard (revision F3a)
Palit 9600GT 512MB graphic card
Segate 500GB HDD
Transcend 2GB 800MHz RAM
AOC 19" LCD widescreen monitor
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32 bit
