Geforce 6200 keeps causing bluescreens. Ive tried several different drivers and cant get a good result.

when i reboot it brings up the message that an error occurred and i click the check for solutions button and it gives me a link to nvidias site. I assume its the graphics card because It only blue screens when i try to do something graphics intensive.

Brunboy, not about solving the driver problem, just giving my opninion: you're performance would be a lot better with a new GPU. Look at an 8800GT or somethin' if you don't want too expensive Newegg.com - 8800 GT, Desktop Graphics / Video Cards... That is if you need the performance boost off course...

Curious choice of graphic card, Amplid is giving you good advice when he says to change it.
In light of your problems I would suggest doing another new install, if for no other reason than to see if you get the same problems a second time.
As it stands you are going nowhere that fast anyway.

i vote for a new video card too. might be a defective card what you have, that wont take any driver.
if you dont really have the money, try reseating it firsts and reinstalling the driver afterwards

Thanks for the reminder, I forgot that this board has onboard graphics it might sort your problems to check that onboard drivers are not installed, and that your onboard is turned off in the Bios

the only graphics adapter showing up in devce manager is diabled and i changed my bios to the correct slot.

Ok if the bios is correct then the card in device manager is the nvidia this needs to be enabled. Then you will see if it has made a difference.

update: so the card I was having problems with was actually a 6800. I popped in my old 6200 and its working fine. since they use the same driver package i dont know what could be the problem
