Vista - MEGA problem xfx 9800x2 vista 64

Hi guys!

Im totally lost.. Started counterstrike source yesterday and it wont start? no other game will start either. The computer has been on as allways. Starting Laura croft it says something "your graphicscard cant render 3d . . . "?? eh? Checked the device manager and both the cards are listed as "unknown" and I can find "the driver cant be loaded". I formated a week ago, got the Sp1 and the latest officiall drivers from Nvidia 180.48. ok, i reformated the computer, installed SP1 and it still dosent work. I then removed the card, checked all cables all over the case and reinserted it. Then the boatloader something on the hardrive is gone? cant start windows!?? reinstalled for the SECOND time today and again the card wont work, cant load drivers. Tried older drivers like 178 something but nothing..

Is it broken? how?!?

right click and run as administrator for the game. Does that resolve it?

Nope, sadly not. I dont have friend with a pci-e motherboard så I cant test it elsewhere. Do have a local computershop, going to ask them to help me. Must be the card och the motherboard

the GX2 is a power hungry oven!!!, great performer in the right setting but its got more than its fair share of problems!!

what PSU do you have..?? i believe the recommended Amperage for this card is 40A on the 12v rail.. only top end PSUs will deliver this..

when you say ''both the cards'' are you referring to the dual GPU's or the fact you have 2x GX2's ?? these things are HORRIBLE in SLI..

you need to find yourself a test rig & a different PSU, to confirm the card is working

your local computer shop may be able to help you (at a price), the problem with this card is you cant just say to someone with a typical home PC ''can i try my card in it'' b/c it wont run in that either..


let us know what they say at the shop...

EDIT: i just checked the specs for your PSU & correct me if im wrong but i belive it only has 19A on the 12v rail, if so there's your problem...??

HAHAHA sorry, och means "and". In swedish. It was late when i wrote it. or early.. hehe.

I have a coolmaster 620 PSU. But I got this computer in late may, it has worked without problems until now!?!? Gonna check the specs to.

Meant that I have one card with two GPU´s, thats what i mean! Sorry for the confusing info!

Going to the computerstore to test it!

EDIT: Found it says "error code 43" In the devicemanager. "the driver has been blocket due to a problem".. eh?

great the computerstore was to buissy. Found another solution: puting the card in the other PCI slot on the motherboard. That had worked for some other guy. If that works it must be my motherboard that has gone nuts. I have also contaced the XFX support but they accelerate like a pimple so I dont have much hope.. Doh´
