Vista - vista can't find new video card

hey guys, i'm having a problem with my new cpu. i just bought a HP M9402f.

here's the specs:

2.3 GHz AMD Phenom X4 9650 quad core
7 gb of ram
plenty of hard drive space
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics

i believe the graphics card is integrated into the mother board due to the fact that there is nothing in the pci -e slot, but there is a small chip int he pci-1 slot. the chip looks way to small to be the nvidia card...

anyways, i put in an ATI Radeon HD 4650 into the pci-e (16) slot and then i changed the bios to that slot for the video card. however now when i restart the cpu it does not seem to find the card at all.

any ideas???? please help!!!

Did you disable the onboard video card on your BIOS? it sure appears as the Bios is still looking at your default onboard card. What card does the Device Manager states you have?

yea i turned that off. device manager sees standard vga graphics adapter now

Have you installed the drivers for the card from ATI's website

i seemed to have figured out why it won't read it. the video card is not compatible with my version of vista... go figure. nooooob mistake. lol. thanks tho

Is this perhaps what you are looking for;
ATI Catalyst 8.12 Vista 64-bit download from Guru3D.com
It is the x64 driver for the 4600 series graphic cards

can you mix nivdia and ati graphics?

You should add/remove the Nvidia drivers. Reboot. Login as administrator. Install the new ATI driver. Make sure your power supply is good enough to support a slotted video card. If its less than 400W, you definitely need a new power supply.
