BFG GeForce 9800 GT OC 512MB

Yesterday i ordered my 1st ever graphics card a BFG 9800 GT OC 512MB from play.com for £117,as i wanted to buy a few games n memory as well.

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Core Clock: 625MHz (vs. 600MHz standard)
Shader Clock: 1566MHz (vs. 1500MHz standard)
Shader Model: 4.0
Texture Fill rate: 35.0 Billion/sec.
Processor Cores: 112
SLi etc etc

so will my card play games ok? I also bought 2GB PNY DDR2 667Mhz for just £12
I wont be able to buy a new motherboard till febuary which sucks as i can only go as far as 2GB Ram on the 1 I've got Oh yeh some of the other BFG cards at play.com come with a 425W power supply, but no mention of it with mine, would i need 2 buy 1 straight away?

Re: BFG GeForce 9800 GT OC 512MB

the 9800GT is a very capable card!!!, what resolution do you play at..??, this card will MAX out any game below 1680x1050 all day long...

At 1680X1050 the 8800-9800GTs are starting to struggle slightly with everything MAXED as the games get more advanced....

what PSU do you have..?? im sure my 8800GT was rated for a minimum of 28A on the 12v rail, the 9800 should be the same....

GPUs do have that many cores, and higher with newer ones.

yes, and the most confusing step nv have taken, adding an extra 24 cores on the 260gtx's, about 1 week after i bought my 260 gtx so i got 192 instead of the 216. booooooo

Yeh i saw the BFG GTX 260 OCX MAXCORE 896MB with 216 cores for £269.99 sounded tasty, hows your 260 gtx doing playing games? I'd imagine it plays Crysis and other top games no problem?

just been on frys.com (american site) and the exact same card was $270 that £180

surprisingly it does well, im going to attach some images with framerates, they're big so i apologise to anybody for slower connections;
all games are at 1920x1080 - since im using such a high resolution, i do not need anti-aliasing on any of my games,
first is obviously crysis - all set at very high.
second is Grand Theft Auto IV for pc - Set at Medium shaders and high textures.
Third is Call Of Duty 4 everything max even anti-aliasing at 4X.
And fourth is Gears Of War for PC everything max, dx10 features on and Anti-aliasing on as well :P

and for GPU's have a look at this>>>http://www.scan.co.uk/Index.aspx?NT=1-0-17-588-0 especially the new evga cards cheaper than the maxcores and a lot better value for money
