"lost" external dispaly default options

I have an HP DV5 series laptop with an HDMI port. When I first plugged the HDMI cable in, I was given three options, mirrored, extended, or external only.
I selected extended, but now want to use external only.
How do I get that 3 option screen back up?, as it goes straight to extended every time I plug it in now.

Cheers

I read this "Hey I finally got it to work. The trick for me was a very simple one. Plug in the dock station then turn on the pc and while it still running the bois, close the pc and thats it. I tried the Fn+F4 again. This time I tried it on a different monitor. Vista gave me the option to mirror, extend, or only display on the 2nd monitor. I had to dig to find where this option came from. Thanks Vista! It turns out that this option is a different option then the HP Fn one. I found it in my control panel > classic view > windows Mobility Center. I still havent tried to unplug it and plug it back in and regain the touch function. Im just glad its working one way. Thanks I will post later if its works that way."

here:- Need help with HP dv5 (1003nr) - MP3Car.com

Don't know if it will help though.

Re: "lost" external dispaly default options

I found the mobility center, it will show the external display is connected, but won't give me the initial 3 options again.
I did find that closing the laptop screen transfers the display to the external, but then I can't use the keyboard or trackpad.
It also goes into presentation mode, which is not a bad thing, as it stops the screen saver and hibernation timers.

So it's semi sorted, I would like to find out how to bring back the 3 screen options, just so I know how to do it.
