looking at this the 55nm GTX260 seems to be just a cheaper knock off of 65nm version with a cheaper cooler, nothing special about it.

overclock will probably only going to get you 50Mhz more than the 65nm version.

It's not suppost to be anything totally new and better to make you upgrade from a 65nm to a 55nm. The temp difference seems to be justifiable with the cheaper cooler, but the power consumption is disappointing.

Well I have to say that is a bit disappointing, I think that nvidia are making this card not as an upgrade but purely to reduce build cost and widen the profit margin. Have you seen any game performance benchmarks for them?

Also a little off topic but my GTX260 216core doesn't handle GTA IV, 3 times I have had it crash and tell me that I have run out of video memory and have to reboot, WTF is up with that, so now I have to play on medium settings even though it was handling it fine on high aside from the unexpected crash. If only they had given that card the full gig of memory there would be no problem and 2 gigs of DDR5 would be even better.

yes it ''appears'' to be a budget related move from Nvidia......:(
i cant say ''with certainty'' these wont yield a significant performance boost until they start flooding into ppl's homes, but i know from personal experience 60-70mhz on the core gains a negligible boost...

& its hotter..:sarc:
& it uses more power..:sarc:

Yes I think it asked me if I wanted to apply the latest patch when I first tried to play, unless that was just for the live id account, will have to check.
