I really want to improve my graphics card I currently have a hd3200 and my computer is an lx6200 gateway http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668196.php . I have a 22 inch screen with 1680 x 1050 resolution ;). I want to play Left 4 dead , in 1680 x 1050 resolution at high setting (maybe even crysis) what do you guys reccomend on the graphics card i get? I know i have to upgrade my power supply in order to do this also.
I wasnt sure if this graphics card would be able to do that http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4097752&CatId=3670
And with this graphics card i was thinking of this Psu http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
My budget is around 275$ give or take a few for the Psu and graphics card put together, but i was praying to spend less than 200$
So what do you guys think? 1. Do i even need to have a graphics card that high in order to get the performance i want? 2. Is the Psu compatible with my comp?
3. Is there another graphics card and psu you guys recommend at a cheaper price ( is there even a good graphics card that can do the performance i want, without having to increase my psu, i highly doubt it)?
Sorry for all my question im a little new at this :o
Thx for the help

First of all, welcome to the Vista forums.

The first thing that comes to mind is the space you have inside your case to work with. The 4870 is a large card length wise, and is a dual slot card with the big cooler on it, make sure you have adequate space in your case to fit this. PSU might not have this problem.

You'd certainly get good performance in left4dead, Crysis will be playable, but not with max details at that resolution as those settings can push just about any PC to it's limit.

You could maybe get away with buying a 4850 graphic card too, which is a bit cheaper, and still get good performance out of it, not much lower than a 4870 I don't think.

Thanks again

The 4870 is about 9.5" in length, so it should fit in your case. The 4850 is just a bit smaller, if not the same afaik.
