any chance you can get into your device manager? if you can, have a look to see if your Gfx is installed and if theres no errors with the drivers, and any chance of a pic?

I have the same problem it's XP Pro SP1 stuck on 800x600 4Bit color. Using SP2 or higher and vista fixes the problem i've read some where else.

interesting, this is new to me, however, i have had a look on ECS' website, and interestingly this popped up,
Due to the DRAM maximum size is 2GB at present
and you need to make sure you have disabled the onboard ATi graphics.

When i have not installed any drivers this is what i can see. Chipset is Nvidia so must be my geforce. Can it be i installed the wrong drivers? I formatet my hdd and reinstalled vista with english (US) settings and did not install the japanese nvidia drivers that comes with the cd. Downloaded latest nvidia drivers for 9-series, English (US), Vista x64. Hope this is gonna work.

Edit: Nope, same problem...

Edit: Yes!! I dled an older version of the driver. Works perfectly now! Thank you for taking time and helping me though ^^

Hello,

I have the exact same problem. I am running W7U x64 and everything is working fine except for my nVidia GeForce 9800GT. It can only run in 800x600 and nothing else. I have tried updating all drivers (including "unrelated" ones, e.g. network) and BIOS but still, the only supported mode is 800x600.

I have tried using a GeForce 7600 (also PCI express) and that works fine, with all drivers tested (basically the latest 195.62 and the oldest I could find, 181.71).

Any help would be highly appreciated.
