hey guys just wonderin if this is a pretty good card

its a pretty good mid range card, getting on a bit now though......3870 performance is comparable to an 8800GT, though the GT has the edge...

at that price im sure you can get a HD4850..??

For the price of that card i'd look at a 4850, it's a better performing card. I upgraded from a 3870 to the 4850 myself.

That card doesn't look too bad man, I'm a ATI user myself.
The only thing I can say is the Nvidia does have the edge over the ATI, not much of a difference but still noticeable.

well not from bestbuy...... i have $94s worth of gift cards so thats why i'm gonna get one of these

If you can't get the 4850, then i'd get the 3870 over the 4670. But...that depends on what it is you want from your card. If you want to game, the 3870 is the better card, multimedia, maybe the 4670.

Happy to help, but if at all possible, get the 4850. It really is the better card. Look around, i'm sure you can find it at around the same price as the 3870 that Best Buy is asking for. On the other end of that story though I understand finances

It also depends on what type of games he's looking to play.
It would be a shame for him to go over-kill on something he really wouldn't use, to be honest.

mostly real flight 4.5 and some cod4 and idk whatever else i can come up with

o and would this psu be ok with the card i was lookin at?

this 600w PSU has 36A on the 12v rail, its modular, & it has enough 6pin connections to sink a ship

yes this PSU would run any card you previously listed..... & most high end cards too.

i love the ultra psu's and their product service is great

I'm not sure man but I think you need a bigger power supply unit on that. I would recommend atleast 1000W considering everything that is going on from what I hear.

1000W for a 3870??? :huh:

1000W is more for your high end x2 /SLI/XFIRE setup.

You don't need a 1000W power supply, especially for a 3870, even two of them! There are also lots of people running crossfire/SLI rigs with super duper cards and most of them aren't running 1000W power supplies!!!

If you're worried about power, a good 750-850 watt would be a good choice.

well the 600 is perfect and i ended up with a HD3650 (a $100 card i got for $50)
it is a huge improvement now...... on to a new case! lol

Hmmm...me no wanna tell you how to spend money...but if you game, 3870 or 4850 way better card.
