Hello All,

Hope everyone is ready for the New Year.

I currently have a ATi Radeon 256MB X1900 GT Graphic Card and it's a nice card but it's time for an upgrade. I bought the card about 2yrs ago when I built my system.

Current System Specs:

Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6800 Processor
3GB Memory
(1) 500GB SATA Hard Drive
SoundBlaster Audigy Sound Card
Antec EarthWatts 500W Power Supply
Antec Nine Hundred Case

The only game I currently play is Battlefield 2 (BF2). Other than playing BF2; I use my Desktop Machine for internet/chat/music/videos.

*Currently I have XP Professional 32-bit; but am upgrading to Vista x64 soon.*

Have been looking at the NVIDIA 9800's but need a little help.

Thanks

-Jeff

That card you linked is a steal, and it is definitely faster than your current card.

However, if you really won't be using your computer for anything except BF2, you may want to save your money for the time being; BF2 is not at all an expensive program for modern graphics cards.

I would imagine that you can already play this game at full graphical quality; I can say in truth that my old 'gaming' system runs that game on highest image settings at 1600*1200 with only an nVidia 7800GT. Why do you feel you need a new video card?

I play BF2 with all video settings on high... but I feel that I don't have the graphic quality to where I want it to be.... I don't know.

I might get into some other PC games in the future after I upgrade to Vista x64.

I only have a 17" Samsung 730B LCD Monitor so I can't go past 1280x1024 (or so I have heard)

Well it is my opinion that in Battelfield 2 you won't notice any difference with your new card.

The only other reason I suggest you wait is hardware prices only fall as time goes by. At the same time, you found a great deal and I'm not sure when you are planning on upgrading vista and purchasing more hardware-demanding games.

I need to get my external harddrive back from my friends wife.. Then I'll back up my stuff and then upgrade to Vista.

I talked to her yesterday and she said she would back up her stuff and have my external HD back to me by the weekend.

No No. My budget is not that high. I was going to wait until the new cards come out and get an older model. (9800GT or 9800GTX). They seem to be the popular ones that I keep hearing good reviews about.

$499 is too high for a card that I wouldn't use the full potential out of it.

If I were you, I'd get a 9800GTX+ (djee I've been recommending this thing to many people lately...:p)! It's not at all expensive and is a very good card! Here's the list of 'em on newegg. There's a lot to choose from so depending on your budget...

I don't know about the performance, but EVGA has lifetime guarantee (that's why they're more expensive...)

Well, I've only got a 17" and just got the beast... There's really no point getting new monitors if your graphics card hasn't got the power to display the image properly, right...?:) In my opinion that is..

Here's a link to the XFX one: Graphic Cards - GeForce® 9 Series - 9800 GTX+

XFX does recommend a power suplly of 630 Watt or greater though so might want to take a look at that as well...:)

I just bought a Antec 500watt PSU. :( (but it was for only $40 or $50 :D )

I want a larger resolution that 1280x1024. :)
