Hi johnletcar,

Have you run the windows experience index yet? Do that and make sure you have your display set to 32 bit.Right click on the desktop and go to display properties. Check the Device Manager and see if you have any problems in there. Maybe you can check to see if you have the latest driver updates.

Go to the control panel-system and run the WEI.

You need a new video card. Sorry, you do. Vista desktop won't even right with that card, certainly not Aero. You don't have to mortgage your house to get one, but get a new video card. Your problems will go away, in this area.

Re: Standard VGA graphics adapters HELP

PS, judging by the age of your card, I'm wondering about your computer...

edit - You also don't have any hardware acceleration on that card

Re: Standard VGA graphics adapters HELP

It's kind of hard to recommend a video card when I’m not sure of what type VGA bus slot you have? Your current card says PCI, but I don’t want to assume.

Also, did you install any video card drivers? And can you tell us what kind of motherboard you have?

And did you have someone look over your computer before upgrading to Vista? Again, judging from your video card, I have a concern that you may not have enough system to run Vista.

Lastly, if you're unfamiliar with your computer then I recommend you have someone look it over and give you a good assessment of what you may need, including the video card.

Let us know.
