Help connecting external display (TV)

Im on an HP530 with Vista Home 32bit.
I wanted to see some videos on my TV (Sony Trinitron XBR) which is "kinda" old and does not sport a VGA in connection.

I bought a VGA to RCA cable and got it today so I connected the male VGA to the computer and the RCA to the TV and the laptop is not recognizing anything.

Am I missing something? The VGA-RCA cable ALSO has a SVideo female and also tried that one.

I already clicked the windows key+x to add it manually thru the "mobility" settings.

HELP? I want to see House
Thanks a bunch!

Re: Help connecting external display (TV)

You have to switch the TV to the correct video source for your RCA or Svideo. Then, you need to set you display to video out.

Re: Help connecting external display (TV)

Thanks SCSIraidGURU but it is still not working
is there some kind of "switch" for the video card to "release" the image to the TV?

The video card is from Intel... if more info on the card would help I'll let you know in a while.
Thanks again.

Re: Help connecting external display (TV)

Your video card should have a TV out setting you need to switch to.

Re: Help connecting external display (TV)

Thing is, when I connected the laptop on an AOC LCD from VGA to VGA it did it automatically, that's why I'm afraid my VGA-RCA adaptor wont work now

Anyway, anyone knows how to manually turn on the TVOUT switch from the following card:
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family

Thanks again.

monitors are signal based, if the monitor is switched on, it will detect the input automatically, since you are connecting with more than one cable connection, the tv doesnt have the ability to "find" the signal, so it must be manually configured, however the composite signal should be detected through your TV, this shouldnt be displayed on your laptop, im not familiar with the software that is used for that graphics array, so i cannot help you enable tv out. but if you right click the icon in the bottom right hand corner, you should have an option to open the display settings, and i believe from there you click on display devices.
